49ers DT Alfred Collins Out for Season After Brutal Practice Injury

The absolute worst kind of NFL notification just dropped for the San Francisco 49ers. Defensive tackle Alfred Collins is officially out for the season after tearing his patellar tendon during Monday's practice.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed the brutal news, turning what should have been a routine week of preparation into a frantic scramble to patch up the defensive interior.

There is nothing quite as deflating as losing a massive run-stuffer to a non-game injury. You expect guys to get banged up in the trenches on Sundays, but having your season wiped out on a random Monday afternoon feels like a cruel glitch in the simulation.

The timing is objectively terrible for San Francisco. The 49ers are staring down a divisional road clash against the Los Angeles Rams this week, and suddenly the middle of their defensive line looks a lot more vulnerable to the ground game.
