The Las Vegas Raiders are getting half of their offensive identity back just in time for Sunday, but the other half is staying in street clothes.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, running back Ashton Jeanty is officially off the injury report and cleared to play against the Miami Dolphins. But in a classic one-step-forward, one-step-back move for Las Vegas, tight end Brock Bowers has been ruled out.
"Adam Schefter reported that Jeanty is off the injury report and good to go, while Bowers is officially ruled out."
Having Jeanty back in the backfield is massive. The guy is a walking highlight reel who turns broken plays into chunk yards. But losing Bowers means the Raiders are essentially swapping out their middle-of-the-field cheat code for a battering ram.
If you were holding your breath on Raiders player props, you can finally exhale and immediately pivot. Without Bowers commanding attention from linebackers and safeties, expect Miami to stack the box and dare Las Vegas to beat them on the outside.
Jeanty is going to get fed, but those yards might not come easy. This is the kind of game where a team's offensive identity gets tested, especially when you have to figure out how to move the chains without your top tight end bailing you out on third down.
Sunday night in Vegas will tell us exactly how much of this offense runs through the backfield. Jeanty is ready to roll, but the Raiders will need to find a new way to keep the chains moving if they want to keep pace with the Dolphins.

The Raiders will have to rely heavily on Jeanty and find alternative passing targets to keep pace with the Dolphins on Sunday.
