Broncos Backfield Turns Into a Triage Unit After Gritty Win Over Jaguars

Being a running back for the Denver Broncos right now is basically an extreme sport. The team just grinded out a 20-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but their backfield medical chart reads like a medieval battlefield ledger.

ESPN's Adam Schefter dropped the latest triage report on Wednesday. Rookie Jonah Coleman is dealing with a sprained ankle, RJ Harvey is still nursing a hamstring, and JK Dobbins gave everyone a collective heart attack before getting cleared to practice.

Let us start with Dobbins, because his lower body has been through more trauma than a crash-test dummy. He walked off gingerly in the third quarter on Sunday after a short carry, instantly terrifying anyone holding a fantasy ticket given his brutal history of Achilles and ACL tears. Thankfully, it looks like a minor hamstring scare and he is expected to suit up.

Meanwhile, Harvey missed the Jacksonville game entirely with his own hamstring issue. That left Coleman to pick up the slack. The rookie did his job, but the reward for his increased workload was a sprained ankle that now puts his own availability in doubt.

If you are trying to set a fantasy lineup or handicap Denver's ground game, you are basically throwing darts in a dark room. You have three running backs who are all varying degrees of broken, making any rushing prop a complete gamble until the final inactive list drops.

The Broncos host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. Denver has a few days to tape these guys back together, but whoever actually takes the first snap is going to need a lot of ice by Monday morning.
