The Sunday morning active/inactive dump is the most stressful time of the week for fantasy managers, but Adam Schefter just delivered a wave of relief for Week 6. The latest report confirms a handful of major stars are officially suiting up, saving millions of people from making desperate last-minute roster moves.
Caleb Williams is officially back for the Chicago Bears. The rookie quarterback has been sidelined since Week 2 with a Grade 2 hamstring strain he suffered against the Minnesota Vikings. He missed three games, forcing Chicago to ride the Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum carousel, which is an experience no fanbase should have to endure for a month straight.
"Actives today include: Caleb Williams, Rico Dowdle, Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara, Kenyon Sadiq, Ja’Kobi Lane. Inactives: Quinshon Judkins, Tyler Warren."
Rico Dowdle is also returning to the field for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He dislocated his toe back in Week 2 while scrambling for a fumble, played through it, and then re-injured it. Missing three games for a toe sounds soft until you remember running backs actually need their feet to avoid getting destroyed by linebackers.
The New Orleans Saints get to keep their offense intact with both Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara active. Olave missed practice time this week with an illness, but apparently, some fluids and a game check were enough to get him out of bed.
Rounding out the active list, New York Jets tight end Kenyon Sadiq cleared concussion protocol and is good to go, while Ja’Kobi Lane also gets the green light. On the flip side, Quinshon Judkins and Tyler Warren are officially in sweatpants today.
For the betting crowd, Williams returning completely shifts the lines for the Bears matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. You do not have to bet on it, but knowing whether a franchise quarterback or a backup is under center is the difference between a smart read and a donation to the sportsbook.
Now we just have to see if Williams can keep his hamstring intact against an aggressive Falcons defense. If he looks healthy, Chicago can finally get their season back on track. If he tweaks it again, we are right back to the backup quarterback nightmare by Tuesday.
