Dillon Danis Pulls Out of Mike Perry Fight With 'Grizzly' Arm Injury

Dillon Danis pulling out of a fight is the most predictable outcome in modern combat sports, but at least this time he has a wild excuse. According to MMA Fighting, a "grizzly arm injury" has forced the grappler out of his scheduled main event against Mike Perry at Duel Arena 1.

Unless Danis was actually attacked by a bear in training camp, we can safely assume the report meant a grisly injury. Either way, the result is exactly what everyone expected when this chaotic matchup was first announced.

The fight was supposed to headline the debut Duel Arena card this Saturday, August 29, at the Kia Center in Orlando. Instead, the promotion is now scrambling to salvage a main event just 48 hours before the doors open.

Anyone who actually placed a wager on Danis making the walk to the cage just learned a very expensive lesson in statistical probability. Sportsbooks probably should have offered odds on the fight getting scrapped rather than who would win the first round.

The matchup was always a ridiculous recipe. Perry is currently 6-0 in bare-knuckle boxing and is coming off a brutal TKO win over Nate Diaz in May. He fights with the emotional regulation of a guy who just got cut off in traffic and has the striking power to end anyone.

Danis, meanwhile, is technically 3-0 in MMA but has built an entire brand on talking trash online and avoiding professional face-punchers. His last actual MMA appearance was a 15-second win over Warren Spencer on a Misfits influencer card last August.

Now Duel Arena has to figure out what to do with a $29.99 pay-per-view that just lost its main attraction. Finding a heavyweight willing to step in on two days' notice to fight a guy who swings like a supervillain is going to be a massive headache.
