Jackson Holliday is getting wrist surgery, officially ending a 2026 season that most Baltimore Orioles fans would probably like to surgically remove from their memories anyway.

The 22-year-old former number one overall pick was recently placed on the injured list retroactive to September 15 with what the team called left wrist inflammation. Now, MLB Trade Rumors reports that the inflammation has graduated to a full-blown surgical procedure.

Before the wrist officially gave out, Holliday was slashing a brutal .229 with a .640 OPS and just seven home runs in 315 at-bats. For context, that is the kind of offensive production usually reserved for backup catchers who are really good at framing pitches, not the undisputed crown jewel of a franchise rebuild.
