Jalen McMillan Will Play Sunday, But Do Not Expect a Full Workload

Jalen McMillan is officially suiting up for Sunday’s game against the Browns, but do not expect him to be out there running wind sprints every down.

Adam Schefter reports the Buccaneers wide receiver is expected to play through his questionable tag for a knee injury, but he will be on a strict snap count.

McMillan missed Week 1 with this same left knee issue, watching from the sidelines as Tampa Bay dropped a 33-27 shootout to the Bengals. Now he is back, but a part-time role in the NFL usually means a guy is out there just enough to act as a highly paid decoy.

The Bucs are genuinely desperate for warm bodies out wide right now. With Chris Godwin still recovering from last year's brutal ankle dislocation and rookie Emeka Egbuka dealing with his own camp injuries, Tampa Bay's receiver room is starting to look like a hospital waiting area.

McMillan only caught 12 passes for 178 yards last season while battling a severe neck sprain, so asking him to save the offense on one good knee is a mathematically terrible bet.

If you are staring at your fantasy lineup or looking at player props, a part-time receiver is the ultimate trap. You are basically praying for a busted coverage touchdown on his eight total routes.

The Buccaneers host Cleveland this Sunday evening, and they desperately need a win to avoid an 0-2 hole. McMillan will be in uniform, but Tampa Bay will have to rely on guys like Sterling Shepard and Trey Palmer to actually move the chains while their second-year wideout tests the structural integrity of his knee.
