For a catcher, the left hand is kind of important. It is the one currently tasked with receiving 98-mph sinkers and framing sliders in the dirt. You cannot exactly tape some aspirin to it and get back behind the plate.

The White Sox now have to scramble to fill the void. Losing your primary backstop disrupts the entire pitching staff, which is the last thing a Chicago roster trying to find any sort of rhythm needs right now.
