Mackenzie Stiller Weighs In at 124 Pounds for a Wild UFC Edmonton Debut

Mackenzie Stiller just stepped on the scale at 124.0 pounds for UFC Edmonton, officially green-lighting a debut that feels like a glitch in the matchmaking matrix.

Aaron Bronsteter reported the official weight Friday, confirming Stiller is ready for her flyweight bout. For context, Stiller is a natural strawweight who usually tips the scales at the 116-pound limit. Moving up a weight class for your first walk to the Octagon is already a massive gamble.

"Aaron Bronsteter reported Stiller's official weight at 124.0 lbs."

Then you look at the opponent. Stiller is facing Katlyn Cerminara, a 25-fight veteran who has spent the better part of a decade turning highly touted prospects into frustrated decision losses.

Taking your first UFC fight up a weight class against someone with Cerminara's resume is like getting your learner's permit and immediately merging onto the Autobahn.

The stats make this a fascinating clash of styles. Stiller is 6-1 overall with five submission victories, meaning she basically treats human limbs like pull-start lawnmowers. But Cerminara has 19 career wins and has spent years defending takedowns from women naturally bigger than Stiller.

Anyone looking at the betting board has to figure out if Stiller's elite grappling can overcome the sheer physics of fighting a larger, wildly experienced veteran. Cerminara knows exactly how to use her range to keep submission specialists swinging at air.

We will see how the math works out on Saturday night at Rogers Place. Either Stiller pulls off a legendary debut upset, or she gets a very long, very educational 15-minute welcome to the big leagues.
