The NFL really looked at the calendar, saw a random Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, and decided it was the perfect time to drop a defensive nuke on the Los Angeles Rams. According to Ian Rapoport, Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons is officially targeting a Thanksgiving Eve return to the field.
Returning from a torn ACL to play football while the rest of the country is arguing in a grocery store aisle over cranberry sauce is objectively hilarious. But for a Green Bay defense that desperately needs its alpha back, the timing could not be better.
"Ian Rapoport reported that Parsons and the Packers are targeting the Thanksgiving Eve showdown against the Rams for his return."
Parsons shredded his knee last December in a game against the Denver Broncos. Since then, the Packers have been holding the line without the guy who casually racked up 12.5 sacks in 2025 before his knee gave out.
Green Bay is sitting at 5-3 after a recent 27-19 win over the Carolina Panthers, but surviving the middle of the schedule is very different from making a deep playoff run. You do not acquire a generational pass rusher just to have him wear a headset in January.
The Rams are going to be a massive test right out of the gate. Los Angeles just hung 35 points on the Las Vegas Raiders, proving their offense is humming at exactly the wrong time for a rusty edge rusher to try and find his legs.
From a betting perspective, dropping a healthy Parsons back into the Green Bay lineup completely alters the math on team totals and live spreads. He is the rare defensive player who actually moves the needle on a sportsbook app just by putting his helmet on.
We will see if the knee holds up to the hype, but circling a holiday-eve primetime game for a comeback is exactly the kind of theater we expect. If Parsons is actually ready to go, Matthew Stafford might want to start his holiday weekend a day early.
