Mother Nature Refuses to Save the Commanders from the Seahawks

The weather report says the heavy rain is clearing up just in time for the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders to kick off on Sunday. This is objectively terrible news for Washington fans, who were desperately hoping a biblical monsoon would hide the current state of their roster.

Meteorologist Kevin Roth posted his final update for Landover, confirming the heavy bands of rain are pushing out before game time. That leaves behind just a few spotty showers and manageable winds.

"Kevin Roth noted that heavy rain is pushing in now, but this band of rain will be clearing around kickoff."

A sloppy, rain-soaked mudfest was Washington's best chance to drag this game into the gutter and keep it close. Instead, they have to play a dry, functional football game against a 2-0 Seattle buzzsaw.

The Commanders are already sitting at 0-2 and missing half their foundational pieces. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is officially out with an elbow injury, meaning Marcus Mariota gets the keys to an offense that is also missing guard Sam Cosmi and tight end Chig Okonkwo.

On the other side, Seattle is rolling. Sam Darnold is practicing fully, Cooper Kupp is in the mix, and Mike Macdonald's defense just suffocated the Arizona Cardinals in a 31-7 blowout last week.

Oddsmakers have the Seahawks as 7.5-point road favorites, which feels less like a betting line and more like a polite suggestion. Without the elements acting as a natural equalizer, Mariota is going to be staring down a defense that absolutely smells blood in the water.

If you are heading to Northwest Stadium this weekend, you can safely leave the heavy poncho at home. You might want to bring a blindfold instead.
