The Green Bay Packers are out here treating the late-August trade market like a fantasy football waiver wire at 2 a.m. According to Adam Schefter, Green Bay just swung a deal to acquire tight end Mark Redman from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2028 seventh-round pick, capping off a day where they also traded for a running back.

A 2028 seventh-round pick is basically a theoretical concept. The kid who will eventually be drafted with that selection is probably just trying to pass his high school driver's ed test right now. The Packers are coming off a 42-38 shootout loss to the Arizona Cardinals, a game that proved their offense can put up points but might need more depth to survive the grind of the regular season. Bettors looking at Green Bay futures should note that the front office is aggressively churning the bottom of the roster to find reliable blockers and pass-catchers. When a team trades for a running back and a tight end on the exact same day, it usually means the coaching staff looked at the preseason film and immediately hit the panic button on their depth chart.

Now Redman has to pack his bags, learn a completely new playbook on the flight to Wisconsin, and figure out how to block for a revamped backfield.
