Patrick Kane is heading back to the Chicago Blackhawks, proving that time is a flat circle and nostalgia remains the most powerful drug in professional sports.

Daily Faceoff dropped the news Thursday that the veteran winger is reuniting with the franchise where he built a first-ballot Hall of Fame resume. After weird, alternate-universe pit stops with the New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings, the guy who basically invented the modern backhand is coming home.

Oddsmakers are not going to drastically shift the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup futures over a veteran reunion, but the over on Kane's power-play assists is going to be a heavily hammered prop bet.

We still need the official contract numbers, but the real story is already locked in. The United Center is going to be absolutely deafening on opening night, and Chicago just made their rebuild significantly more watchable.
