Monday Night Football ended with a 37-34 Buffalo Bills win, but the real fireworks apparently happened after the final whistle.
The NFL has officially handed Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson a two-game suspension without pay for punching Bills edge rusher Bradley Chubb postgame.
"Tom Pelissero reported the suspension is without pay and covers the next two games barring an appeal."
Tom Pelissero reported the discipline, which means the Rams are now down their blindside protector for a crucial stretch. Throwing hands in a helmeted sport is already a questionable life choice, but doing it after the clock hits zero is just donating your game checks back to the league office.
Barring a successful appeal, Jackson is going to miss upcoming matchups against the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders. Both of those teams just got blown out on Sunday, with the Cardinals giving up 45 points to the Lions and the Raiders surrendering 45 to the Patriots.
These were supposed to be get-right games for a Rams offense that just put up 34 points in a shootout loss. Now, whoever steps in at left tackle has to keep the pocket clean without the benefit of starting reps. If you are looking at the lines for those upcoming games, you have to factor in a reshuffled offensive line trying to find its footing.
Jackson will have to watch from the couch while his bank account takes a hit. The Rams will try to patch the left side of their line and keep their season from spiraling before he is allowed back in the building.
