Rams Place Myles Garrett on IR, Delaying the Defensive Superteam

The Los Angeles Rams just placed Myles Garrett on injured reserve, officially sidelining him for at least the next four games.

ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news Thursday that the star pass rusher is headed for arthroscopic surgery to clean up a left knee patella sprain he aggravated during training camp.

"Adam Schefter reported Garrett is out at least four games."

This is the exact opposite of what the Rams drew up when they decided to build a defensive superteam.

Los Angeles traded for Garrett after his historic 23-sack season in 2025, a move so massive it literally helped convince Aaron Donald to unretire and sign a $20 million deal for one more run.

Instead of watching two of the greatest defensive linemen of this generation hunt quarterbacks together, Rams fans get to watch the medical staff update practice reports for a month.

The timing is objectively hilarious if you aren't a Rams fan, especially since they just got completely dismantled 27-7 by the San Francisco 49ers in their Week 1 opener.

Without Garrett anchoring the edge, the entire math changes for this defense.

Anyone looking at the betting lines for Los Angeles over the next month has to factor in a pass rush that just lost its primary engine, making opposing quarterbacks a lot more comfortable in the pocket.

Garrett is eligible to return in four weeks, but until then, the Rams have to figure out how to survive without the guy they mortgaged their future to get.
