The Baltimore Ravens' quarterback room has officially reached the "asking a fan in section 112 to warm up" stage of the season.
According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Ravens' latest practice report lists emergency third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano as limited with an ankle injury, while backup Tyler Huntley was a complete non-participant with a toe issue.
"Mike Garafolo reported that Joe Fagnano is limited and Tyler Huntley is a DNP on the latest practice report."
This comes just days after a disastrous 36-10 blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills where the football gods decided to take out the entire Baltimore depth chart. Lamar Jackson went down on the first offensive play and is now headed to injured reserve for right thumb surgery. Huntley stepped in, only to leave with that toe injury on a sack-fumble.
That left Fagnano, an undrafted rookie out of UConn, to finish the game. He somehow managed to injure his own foot in the process but gutted it out because the alternative was probably putting a tight end under center. Now, the guy who was supposed to be the emergency glass-break option is limping through practice.
Baltimore is currently sitting at 4-4 and riding a miserable three-game losing streak. Anyone looking at the spread for their upcoming game is flying blind until this team can prove they have a human being capable of taking a snap without requiring medical attention immediately after.
The absolute worst part of all this is the schedule. The Ravens do not get a full week to heal up and scour the free-agent scrap heap. They host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football, meaning they have roughly 48 hours to figure out if Fagnano's ankle can hold up or if they need to start holding open tryouts in the stadium parking lot.
