TreVeyon Henderson Is Back to Ruin Your Fantasy Backfield Math

The New England Patriots are getting their most explosive playmaker back just in time to make sure nobody knows who is actually getting the ball on Sunday.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, running back TreVeyon Henderson was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. After missing the season opener with an ankle injury, the second-year back is officially on track to return for Week 2 and share the backfield with Rhamondre Stevenson.

"Field Yates reported Henderson was a full participant and will share the backfield with Stevenson."

Henderson slipping on the practice turf in August cost him Week 1, which ended in a miserable 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Now he is back to fix an offense that looked about as dangerous as a butter knife.

As a rookie in 2025, Henderson racked up 911 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, looking like a lock for Offensive Rookie of the Year before Stevenson took over the heavy lifting down the stretch. Stevenson still managed 603 yards and seven scores of his own last year, proving this is less of a depth chart and more of a two-headed monster.

This is great news for the Patriots and absolutely terrible news for anyone trying to set a fantasy lineup or bet a rushing prop. Trying to guess which New England running back falls into the end zone on any given Sunday is a fast track to throwing your phone into a lake.

The Patriots host the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend. Expect both Henderson and Stevenson to get plenty of work, meaning you should probably just avoid this backfield entirely unless you enjoy sweating out a six-carry, 22-yard stat line.
