Volkanovski and Evloev Make Weight for a True Pick 'Em Title Fight at UFC 333

The weigh-ins are done, the scales cooperated, and we finally have a guaranteed featherweight title fight. Movsar Evloev and Alexander Volkanovski both hit 145 pounds on the dot, making their UFC 333 main event in Abu Dhabi officially official.

This is the classic unstoppable force meeting an immovable object, except the immovable object is an undefeated Russian who has turned winning by decision into an absolute science. Evloev has rattled off nine straight victories in the UFC, suffocating guys like Aljamain Sterling, Arnold Allen, and Diego Lopes without ever accidentally finishing a fight early.

"MMA Fighting reported: 'With Alexander Volkanovski also successfully making weight, Saturday’s featherweight championship main event is now official.'"

On the other side, you have Volkanovski, a defending champion whose coach is out here calling him this generation's Georges St-Pierre. Volkanovski is defending his belt against a challenger who literally just apologized in an interview for a 2021 fight that left Nik Lentz needing eye surgery. That is the exact kind of terrifying energy you want in a title challenger.

The oddsmakers have absolutely no idea what to do with this matchup. The lines are sitting at a dead-even -110 for both guys, making this a true pick 'em. You are basically flipping a coin between Volkanovski's legendary championship pedigree and Evloev's relentless wrestling pressure.

Betting against Volkanovski usually feels like setting your money on fire in a parking lot, but betting against an undefeated Russian grappler is basically asking the universe to humble you. Evloev has made a career out of dragging elite fighters into deep water and making them look like they are drowning in slow motion.

The cage doors lock on Saturday at Etihad Arena. We will either see Volkanovski add another legendary defense to his Hall of Fame resume, or we are going to watch Evloev grind his way to a shiny new belt and a very unanimous, very exhausting 25-minute decision.
