Zamir White is heading to the Bay Area. Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that the former Las Vegas Raiders running back is officially signing with the San Francisco 49ers.
Kyle Shanahan collecting running backs is basically an NFL offseason tradition at this point. If you have two working legs and can hit a cutback lane, the 49ers will eventually find you and put you in a wide zone scheme.
"Adam Schefter: 'Former Raiders RB Zamir White is signing with the 49ers.'"
White is leaving Las Vegas after a stint where he showed flashes but ultimately got caught in the churn of a chaotic Raiders backfield. Now, he gets to plug into an offense that historically turns random dudes off the street into fantasy football legends.
For White, this is the ultimate career reset. Going from the Raiders' offensive line to San Francisco's blocking scheme is like upgrading from a unicycle to a bullet train. He does not need to be Christian McCaffrey; he just needs to hit the hole and let the scheme do the heavy lifting.
The 49ers host the Tennessee Titans this Friday to kick off their preseason slate. Expect to see White getting some immediate run as San Francisco figures out exactly where he fits in their crowded, but highly productive, running back room.
