The 2025 NFL Draft is just days away, and we have an intriguing one ahead. In most drafts, you have a good idea of where guys will end up in the top 1 to 5 picks. Besides number 1, where Cam Ward should go to the Titans, this draft is wide open.

Draft week is one of my favourite times of the year because of its potential impact on some teams. Other drafts like the NHL, NBA or MLB aren't as meaningful to a team and after round 1 in those sports, it is almost meaningless.

Is the best player in the draft a running back?

When you talk to many scouts and draft experts, they say Jeanty is the best player in the draft. This doesn’t mean he will be drafted first overall; a running back is not valued the same as a starting quarterback or even an edge and a top offensive lineman, but we could see a team surprise the draft, like the Giants or Patriots, selecting him at 3 or 4. If The Giants or Pats don’t draft him there, they could trade back, but I have a hard time seeing him slip past the Raiders at 6.

The letter he wrote to teams:

I’ve taken the long way, I’m done with that way. If you pick me, it’s simple: I’m coming to your franchise to do what Saquon and the Eagles just did. I’m coming to win, big, soon

It’s TACKLE football… you know what I’m saying?

I’d draft the guy they can’t tackle.

Top QB’s

Where will the quarterbacks go? Ward should go number 1 and is the only clear pick for a quarterback in this draft. Last year, in the 2024 NFL Draft, we saw six quarterbacks go in the first round, all by the 12th pick. We could only see two or three go in the first round this year.

Most people have Sanders as the number two QB pick, and he can go as early as 2 to Cleveland or 3 to the Giants. If a team doesn’t want him that early, he can slip down to later in the first round.

If Pittsburgh is on the board at 21 and Sanders is still there somehow, he will be picked at 21. The big question is whether he will make it that late, and I doubt he does.

Cam Ward

2024- 39 passing TDs, over 4300 passing yards

57 starts in college (NFL Ready)

Able to throw from the pocket or on the move

Confident and the right mentality to succeed

He needs to avoid turnovers, and trying to play hero ball at times

Betting Market:

Draft Position: -20000 Under 1.5

Prediction: #1 Titans

Shedeur Sanders

2024- 37 passing TDs, 4100 Passing yards, 74% comp percentage

Best pure passer in this draft

Proved to do well in challenging situations and late in games

Questions on decision-making and getting rid of the ball

Betting Market

Draft Position: +260 Under 8.5

Prediction: the most challenging draft position to predict. Value at +260 on the under due to him possibly going to the Browns, Giants or Jets early. Saints at 9 is also a spot he could land.

Jaxson Dart

2024- 29 passing TDs, 4279 passing yards

Plus athlete with the willingness to run for tough yards

Above-average arm strength with a good touch

Questions with reading defences and processing

Ole Miss wasn’t a pro-style offense

Betting Market

Draft Position: Under 24.5 -150

Prediction: Under 24.5

Top WR’s

Travis Hunter WR/CB

Hunter is an anomaly out of Colorado, a two-way player who, if you draft, could be playing as a starting WR and CB for you next year.

High IQ Player

Great length and frame

Very twitchy and excellent acceleration

Top-tier ball hawk

Will need to fill out and get stronger

Betting Market:

Draft Position: Number 2 Pick -800

Prediction: Cleveland #2

Tetairoa McMillan

Huge frame and length at 6’5

Smooth runner and very athletic

Mismatch for many corners

Lack of top-end speed and route running needs some work should get him outside of the top 10

Betting Market

First WR off the board -165

Prediction: Carolina at 8 would be the earliest / Seattle at 18 is an excellent fit if he gets there to replace Metcalf

Matthew Golden

Great long speed with a burst to create big splash plays

Crisp route running

He needs to clean up his drops

Battled injuries over the years

Betting Market

Draft Position: Under 17.5 -165

Prediction: Dallas at 12 & Under 17.5

Top Defensive Players

Abdul Carter / Edge

Top 3 player in this draft, if not the BEST

Can play both off and on the ball as a linebacker

A physical and aggressive style which will translate to the NFL

Impressive burst off the line and quickness

Still raw as an edge player

Betting Market

Draft position: Under 3.5 -650

Prediction: Giants at 3. He won’t get out of the Top 5

Mason Graham / DT

Very powerful tackle with outstanding leverage and instincts

He is a former wrestler, which shows when he bullies the lineman

Top-level against the run

Tone setter for that Michigan defence

Betting Market

Draft Position: Under 5.5 -120

Prediction: Jacksonville at 5, he won’t get out of the top 8

Jalon Walker / LB

Top 10 player in this draft

Great length, powerful and very explosive

He can play on and off the ball

Great Leader

Betting Market

Draft Position: 8.5 Under +150

Prediction: Earliest Jacksonville at 5, Carolina at 8 is also an option if they don’t go WR. It's difficult to call his draft position and could fall out of the top 10.

Will Johnson / CB

Big corner with solid movement skills and instincts

He can match up with bigger wideouts due to his size and length

There are some concerns with his overall speed, and due to that, he should fall out of the top 10

Betting Market:

Draft Position Under 11.5 +180

Prediction: Earliest 6 with the Raiders, but I expect him to fall out of the Top 10.

SF at 11 is a real possibility; there is some value at +180 to go under.

Some other players who can go in the top 10

Will Campbell OT

The top lineman in the draft should be there at 4 for the Patriots if they don’t go RB with Jeanty. The Pats let up a league-worst 39.4 % Pressure rate, proving it is their top need.

Tyler Warren TE

He is the top TE in this draft and could be drafted in the top 10, as early as 5, by the Jags. He has excellent size and uses it to make catches. He is very difficult to tackle. We have seen a lot of younger tight ends come into this league as of late who really shined in their rookie years; Warren should be another one.

Honourable mentions (Top 20 guys)

Colston Loveland TE

Jahdae Barron CB

Armand Membou OL

Omarion Hampton RB

Jihaad Campbell LB

Which team will improve the most, who will make some big trades to move up to get their guy, and who will be Mr. Irrelevant? All those questions will be answered by Saturday; enjoy the draft!
