AJ Brown is Out for a Month, and the Patriots Offense is Officially on Life Support

The New England Patriots are about to find out what life looks like without their biggest offensive weapon, and spoiler alert: it is not going to be pretty.

ESPN's Field Yates confirmed that AJ Brown will miss at least the next four games. That means a full month of New England trying to piece together a passing attack without the guy who actually makes it terrifying.

"Field Yates reported that Sunday marks the first of at least four games without AJ Brown for the Patriots."

Losing your top receiver is bad. Losing him when you are already sitting at 0-1 and trying to figure out your offensive identity is the kind of problem that makes coaches age in dog years. For context, removing Brown from this roster is like taking the engine out of a sports car and replacing it with a lawnmower motor. It might still make noise, but you are not winning any races.

The timing is brutal. The Patriots host the 1-0 Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday at 5:00 PM. Pittsburgh is dealing with their own injury headaches, including corner Joey Porter Jr. being limited in practice, but New England's depleted receiver room might just give the Steelers' secondary a free pass.

If you are holding Patriots receiver props or scrambling in your fantasy leagues, it is time to hit the panic button. Somebody has to catch passes from Drake Maye, but guessing who will actually step up is a complete roll of the dice. The target share is wide open, but the quality of those targets against a real defense is a massive red flag.
