Alvin Kamara Returns to Save the Saints' Backfield While Cam Jordan Lingers in Limbo

Alvin Kamara is officially back to full practice participation, which means the New Orleans Saints might actually have a running game to pair with whatever aerial circus Tyler Shough is currently operating.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, head coach Kellen Moore confirmed he expects his star running back to suit up this weekend. Meanwhile, veteran defensive end Cam Jordan is still stuck in the limited-participation mud with a hamstring issue that refuses to go away.

Kamara missed the season opener after spraining his MCL back in August. His return is a massive relief for a New Orleans offense that just watched Shough throw for 410 yards in a heartbreaking 31-30 overtime loss to the Detroit Lions. Throwing for 400 yards is cool, but doing it because your backfield is held together by duct tape is not a sustainable business model.

Getting Kamara back is huge, even if we are talking about a guy who posted career lows of 471 rushing yards and 3.6 yards per carry in 2025. Fantasy managers who stashed him are thrilled, and anyone looking at the rushing prop markets finally has a recognizable name to click on instead of guessing which backup is going to get three carries and a cloud of dust.

On the other side of the ball, Jordan’s lingering hamstring problem is a headache. The 37-year-old missed Week 1, and being limited on a Wednesday means he is still very much a coin flip to actually hit the field.

The Saints travel to face the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday. Kamara will be out there trying to prove he still has the juice, while Jordan will likely be a game-time decision that keeps the defensive line rotation in flux until kickoff.
