The Buffalo Bills are currently 2-0 and scoring points like they are playing on rookie difficulty, but the injury bug is already trying to ruin the vibes.
Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning that wide receiver DJ Moore and defensive tackle Ed Oliver are both officially day-to-day. Moore is dealing with a shoulder issue, while Oliver is nursing a hip problem.
"From @NFLGameDay Morning: Both #Bills WR DJ Moore (shoulder) and DL Ed Oliver (hip) are day-to-day with a chance to be back next week."
Oliver did not even make it to the opening kickoff on Thursday night. He tweaked his hip during pregame warmups before the Bills dropped 41 points on the Detroit Lions. Missing a primetime game because you got hurt stretching is objectively hilarious until you remember how important he is to that defensive front.
Moore actually saw the field against Detroit before exiting in the second quarter with his shoulder injury. The fact that neither guy is looking at an extended absence is a massive sigh of relief for a Buffalo roster that clearly has zero margin for error in a loaded AFC.
For anyone trying to handicap Buffalo's upcoming lines or figure out player props, having a true top target and a disruptive interior lineman hovering in the "maybe" column is a total headache. The Bills offense looked completely fine without Moore for a half, but you do not want to test that depth for a month straight.
The day-to-day tag means we will be refreshing practice reports all week like it is our job. Buffalo gets a little extra rest after playing on Thursday, which gives both guys a very real shot to suit up for Week 3.
