Christian McCaffrey just got out-carried by a rookie named Kaelon Black, and fantasy football managers are currently staring at the ceiling in a cold sweat.

If you drafted the consensus top running back expecting him to never leave the field, the latest box score is a rude awakening. Black did not just get some garbage-time run to kill the clock. He played 43.8 percent of the offensive snaps in the San Francisco 49ers' comfortable 27-7 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Seeing McCaffrey split work with a rookie is like buying a Ferrari and deciding to carpool with your neighbor's Nissan Altima. It makes sense for the long-term mileage of the vehicle, but it is absolutely not what you paid for at the draft.

The prop betting markets and fantasy leagues are going to have a total meltdown trying to price this backfield moving forward. You can no longer blindly hammer the over on McCaffrey's rushing attempts if Black is going to siphon off nearly half the snaps in a given week.
