Commanders Get Defensive Reinforcements While Bucs Skill Players Limp Into Sunday

The NFL injury report is basically a weekly hostage negotiation, and Ian Rapoport just delivered the ransom notes for the Washington Commanders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Washington is getting a massive defensive boost just in time for their NFC East clash with the Philadelphia Eagles. Odafe Oweh, K'Lavon Chaisson, and Daron Payne are all officially green-lit to play. When your entire defensive front is nursing lower-body issues—a calf here, a couple of knees there—getting them all cleared at once feels like finding a crisp hundred-dollar bill in your winter coat. Oh, and running back Jacory "Bill" Croskey-Merritt is also good to go after dealing with a groin issue.

Down in Tampa Bay, the news is a mixed bag ahead of their matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. Receiver Emeka Egbuka is playing through a toe injury, which is great news for anyone holding a ticket on his receiving props or desperately needing a fantasy flex play.

The back half of the Buccaneers' skill group, however, is looking grim. Running back Sean Tucker has a hamstring problem and receiver Jalen McMillan is dealing with a knee issue. Both are listed as doubtful, which in NFL speak means they are currently watching Netflix in sweatpants and will not be seeing the field.

For fantasy managers and prop bettors, this clears up a lot of the Sunday morning chaos. Washington having its full complement of pass rushers makes life significantly harder for the Eagles' offensive line. Meanwhile, Egbuka being active means the Bucs' passing attack stays intact, even if their depth takes a hit with Tucker and McMillan likely sidelined.

We will see if Washington's newly healed defensive front can actually hold up for four quarters in Philly. As for Tampa Bay, expect a heavy dose of their starters against Cincinnati, because the cavalry is officially not coming.
