Daniel Jones and Alec Pierce Make Quick Returns for Colts Against Ravens

Daniel Jones is officially back under center for the Indianapolis Colts just nine months after tearing his Achilles. Nine months for an Achilles tear used to be a career death sentence, but modern medicine apparently treats it like a slightly aggressive hamstring pull.

According to Mike Garafolo on NFL GameDay Morning, Jones is returning to action today against the Baltimore Ravens. He will not be a full go, but the expectation is that he will play a significant amount of snaps.

"Mike Garafolo reported they 'won't be a full go but will play a bunch.'"

He is not the only one limping back into the lineup. Wide receiver Alec Pierce is also returning after undergoing offseason ankle surgery.

Pierce is operating under the exact same vague workload restriction as his quarterback. He will not be fully unleashed, but he is going to be out there enough to impact the game plan.

Rolling out a quarterback with a freshly healed Achilles and a receiver with a surgically repaired ankle against the Ravens defense is certainly a choice. Baltimore is not exactly known for letting opposing offenses ease their way back into a rhythm.

If you are holding any player props on the Indianapolis passing game today, you might want to keep some antacids handy. A snap count on a quarterback usually means a heavy dose of the run game or a very quick hook if things get ugly.

We will see exactly what "not a full go" means when the live bullets start flying this afternoon. If Jones looks hesitant in the pocket, the Colts are going to have to figure out a backup plan in a hurry.
