Justin Jefferson Dodges a Bullet: Vikings Star Has a Chance to Play Sunday

Vikings fans can officially step back from the ledge. After holding their collective breath over the weekend, the MRI results are in, and Adam Schefter reports that Justin Jefferson is only dealing with an ankle sprain.

Even better, Schefter and ESPN's Kevin Seifert noted there is a legitimate chance the star receiver suits up this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. That is the kind of medical update that deserves a parade in downtown Minneapolis.

Jefferson has already racked up 13 catches for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns through three games this season. Taking him out of the lineup is usually the equivalent of unplugging the router while you are in the middle of downloading a massive file, but Minnesota might actually have the luxury of playing this safe.

The Vikings are sitting at a flawless 3-0 after grinding out a 23-16 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their defense is currently allowing a laughably low 13.7 points per game, good for second in the entire league.

Now they get to host a Dolphins team that is currently spiraling at 0-3. Miami just got completely dismantled 24-10 by the Kansas City Chiefs, and for anyone tracking the market, the Dolphins are a miserable 0-3 against the spread while the Vikings are a perfect 3-0 ATS.

Minnesota does not need Jefferson to play hero ball to beat a winless team at home. Whether he takes the field at 4:05 PM this Sunday or grabs a clipboard to rest that ankle, the Vikings are operating from a position of total strength.
