De'Von Achane leaving a football game with an injury is starting to feel like a scheduled programming block. The Miami Dolphins running back was officially ruled out against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday after suffering a right knee injury in the first quarter.
If you had the over on his rushing props, you can go ahead and tear up that ticket. Achane was slow to get up after a tackle and had to be helped off the field, instantly vaporizing fantasy lineups and parlay legs across the country.
"Adam Schefter reported: 'Dolphins RB De'Von Achane has been ruled out vs. the Chiefs due to a knee injury.'"
Before his knee decided to clock out early, Achane had racked up 110 rushing yards and 49 receiving yards on the young season. He is undeniably one of the most electric playmakers in the league when he actually has the ball in his hands.
The problem is that keeping him on the field requires bubble wrap and a prayer circle. Just looking at his medical chart is exhausting. Over the last couple of years, he has dealt with offseason shoulder surgery, a calf strain, a concussion, an ankle sprain, and an MCL sprain.
The timing is brutal for Miami. The Dolphins are currently locked in a tight battle with the Chiefs, trailing 14-10, and losing their most explosive weapon in the first quarter completely changes the math for their offense.
Now we wait for the inevitable MRI update on Monday. Until then, the Dolphins have to figure out how to manufacture offense against the defending champs without their human cheat code, and fantasy managers have to start scanning the waiver wire for a miracle.
